Agathe Simon has just been awarded an immersive creation fund by the CNC (French National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image) for Celestial Attraction, the video triptych in her Cosmos cycle. In July-August 2023, she traveled to Argentina for the scouting of this cycle, with the support of the DRAC Île-de-France – French Ministry of Culture. Cosmos also includes a feature film selected for the ‘Documentary Workshop 2022’ at the Fémis (French National Institute for Professional Image and Sound). Since March 2024, this film is fiscally sponsored by Maysles Documentary Center (NYC). It is currently in development.
On March 7, she will give a performance at the Michel Journiac gallery of the Sorbonne School of Arts. Following a presentation at the XVIII International Architecture Biennale in Venice and at the ‘Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine’ in Paris as part of the Ball Theater project, the sound creation Year 1 will soon be broadcast at the Chicago Architecture Center as part of the ‘Night of Ideas 2024’, an event organized by Villa Albertine / French Institute. After being selected for VdR–Film Market (‘Visions du Réel’ international documentary festival), the film The Travel of Felix was included in the official 2023 selection of the Bogotá Experimental Film Festival.
An associate researcher at the ACTE Institute (Arts Creations Theories Aesthetics) of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Simon recently published an article on the dimensions of sound space in the scientific journal Design Arts Médias. In March, she will speak at a conference on the craft of sound at the Sorbonne School of the Arts. She has just begun the second academic semester of her documentary workshop and her film workshop at Sorbonne University.
