Ex Nihilo is a videopera that presents the visions of three women on ex nihilo creation: an artist, a cosmologist, and a llama herder. Through her rituals, each woman is in search of the ‘Great Unknown’: scientific hypothesis (the Big Bang), faith (God and the Mother-Earth), and art (the creative process). Structured around harmonies and dissonances, their contrasting voices are composed into recitatives, arias, and choruses.

This multi-screen installation immerses the audience in two contrasting landscapes: the bocage of Normandy and the high Andes. This videopera is one of the works featured in the Ex Nihilo exhibition. This project is supported by the Splash initiative, led by RN13BIS – Contemporary Art in Normandy, with the support of the DRAC Normandy and the Normandy Region.
